When boilers are utilized for fuel, the result is typically electricity. The steam that is generated by the boiler which is then used to power turbines. This, in turn, can power generators, blowers and pumps. This process is also a means to produce mechanical energy for various operations.
Another purpose that boilers serve is being a component of the production process. This can manifest in a variety of ways. The steam generated could be necessary for a production cycle where sterilization has to occur. If there is a production stage that requires an increase in temperature, then boilers are perfect for this as well. There are countless applications that boilers address in production.
The last purpose that boilers serve is climate control. The steam produced by the boiler can be used to power the heating and air conditioning of a facility for a number of reasons. This could be to maintain a working temperature for certain machinery or for the comfort of employees.
An industrial facility may have a use for only one of these functions of boilers or it may implement them all. Though these are the basic functions, they can be adapted for a number of new applications. This technology is old, but because of its ability to serve a number of roles along with its enduring longevity, it will continue to have a place in operations of a number of businesses.
